Full Name:
Anck Seh Namun
Age:
28
Race:
Jorōgumo; appears to be human
Occupation:
Seneschal of the Council
Physical Description:
Anck is somewhat of a scandal to the royal court for her common origins and general behaviour, but she manages to get by thanks to her looks. People are drawn to her for the way she holds herself and mystique. She is tall and slender, and wears tight outfits. Her stance is confident, and she usually has a seductive smirk on her face. Anck is 5’8”, with an average size chest attuning to her slender frame. However, she has very blatant hips. She has a heart-shaped, deceptively sweet face and square jaw, high cheekbones, pouted lips, a hooked nose, and an arched forehead. Her eyes are almond-shaped and bright blue in hue, framed by small eyelashes and thin, arched eyebrows. Her hair is thick and wavy, and is also very dark, hanging past her lower back. Anck usually keeps it up in a ponytail or just hides it underneath her hood.
Anck sticks to the bare minimums with makeup, using nude skin shades as opposed to the blaringly arresting colours that most women prefer. Oil for her eyelashes, colourless moisturizing gloss for her lips, black kohl to outline her eyes, and creamy pigments to even out her skin tone are her daily maximum. However, unbeknownst to many, Anck hides much more than skin blemishes. She appears and acts human, and speaks with a sultry tone, but is actually one of the widely demonized ‘whore spiders’- a Jorōgumo. Anck is able to hide her true, monstrous features thanks to her opheliate abilities of bending light. She has eight long, black spider legs arising from her back. When she stands on them, she is ten feet tall. Her eyes became yellow and harsh, and her mouth splits open across her entire jaw to reveal glistening, poisonous fangs. Her accent also becomes decidedly common when she is in her real form.
Personality:
With a deep, sultry voice, tight clothing, charm, and casual flirtatiousness, Anck can be taken for a prostitute. Being also very independent, Anck also gives off a somewhat unconventional air of being a tough girl. Deadly calm and almost apathetic, she is cunning and dark in nature. Those traits, added to her almost indifferent airs and self-reliance, give her the supreme confidence of a military general. Two more of her skills are lie detection, thanks to her extensive training in acting, and her ability to see people’s true intentions- which often come in handy more often than not, as Anck must be ready to defend herself and her staff at any moment.
History:
Anck was born in Chimalma, a steppe city. The Jorōgumo there were generally confined to slums and had violent, short lives. Anck was rescued from an explosive home situation and placed in a convent when she was still a baby. Her life there was not happy. She received some rudimentary education but was often beaten by nuns, both for her race and because she showed signs of being an opheliate. Anck found a way to escape when she was only fifteen. Jorōgumo were capable of appearing human for certain periods of time, and it was in this manner that Anck managed to attract the attention of a middle-class but well-to-do merchant. She married him when she was still a teenager. However, homemaking did not prove to be suitable for Anck, and she ended up dumping him off to join the Amaranthine militia.
Anck craved a life that most Jorōgumo could not have. She soon proved to be an excellent information gatherer and horsewoman. Her years of service eventually attracted the attention of the viceroy of Amaranthine, Veles Maethor. The viceroy was unmarried but famed for his many lovers. Anck teased and tantalized him, even saving his life from assassination on one occasion. Eventually, she convinced Veles to marry her. In a scandalous affair, she divorced her previous husband and married the viceroy. He continued to have strings of affairs regardless of his nuptials. Despite this, Anck loved him dearly, and was both saddened and frightened when Veles suddenly took ill and died- heartbroken for her love but also afraid that fingers would be pointed towards her. However, through a mixture of intelligence and luck, people have yet to discover Anck’s true race. Although she could not inherit the March due to her common origins, Anck was invited to join the Council staff as a seneschal. Anck took the position happily, and is content to run servants and frighten socialites.
